Bookkeeping and Accounting for Beachwood, Ohio Small Businesses

Beachwood is where my office is, and it is where a lot of my clients do business. I am Josh Katz, a CPA who grew up in Cleveland and has spent more than fifteen years keeping the books and filing the taxes for small businesses across the east side. If you run a business in Beachwood and want an accountant who is actually down the street, this page is for you.

Who I work with in Beachwood

Beachwood has an unusual mix for a city its size. There are medical and dental practices along Cedar and Chagrin, law firms and financial offices in the corporate parks, retailers and restaurants around Beachwood Place, and a long list of consultants and real estate investors running businesses from a small suite or a home office. Each of those businesses has different bookkeeping needs. A dental practice cares about collections and provider compensation. A retailer cares about inventory and sales tax. A consultant mostly needs clean books and reliable numbers to work from at tax time. I set up the books around how your business actually works.

What monthly bookkeeping includes

Reconciled accounts every month. Bank, credit card and loan statements tied out so the numbers are right.

Financial statements on schedule. A balance sheet and profit and loss statement you can read and use, delivered on time.

Payroll that matches the ledger. Your payroll provider, whether that is Gusto, ADP or another system, synced with your books so wages and payroll taxes are tracked correctly.

A CPA who answers the phone. Questions come up in July, not just in April. You get direct access to me.

Monthly bookkeeping starts at $350. Individual tax returns start at $800 and business returns start at $1,500. Every fee is flat and quoted before the work begins. You can see the full list on my services page.

Beachwood taxes, handled locally

Beachwood’s municipal income tax is administered by RITA at a rate of 2.0%. Businesses located here owe tax on net profit, and employers withhold for employees who work here. Where it gets complicated is when your staff work in more than one city, or when someone who used to come into the office now works from home in Pepper Pike or Lyndhurst. I explain how that works in my guide to Ohio municipal income tax, RITA and CCA.

If your business has grown quickly, it is also worth checking where you stand on the Ohio Commercial Activity Tax. Many Beachwood businesses that once filed no longer need to.

Meet in person, or not

Most clients send documents electronically and meet by video, which keeps things simple. But because my office is in Beachwood, sitting down in person is easy whenever you would rather do that. You can read more about my background on the about page.

Let us talk

The first conversation is free. Tell me what your business does and where the books stand today, and I will tell you what it would cost to get them where they should be.

Call (216) 249 6013, email info@joshkatzcpa.com, or send a message through the contact form. My office is at 3401 Enterprise Pkwy, Suite 340-387, Beachwood, OH 44122.
