Strongsville is one of the busiest commercial corridors on the west side: retailers and restaurants around SouthPark and along Pearl Road, contractors and trades working out of the industrial parks off Route 82, medical and dental practices, and a long list of franchise owners and family businesses. I am Josh Katz, a Cleveland CPA with more than fifteen years of experience keeping the books and filing the taxes for small businesses like these. My office is in Beachwood, and everything runs on secure cloud software, so working with a Strongsville business is no different from working with one down the street.
Who I work with in Strongsville
Owner-run businesses doing somewhere between a few hundred thousand and a few million dollars a year: contractors and home-service companies, restaurants and franchise locations, retail shops, medical and dental practices, and professional firms. The common thread is an owner who wants accurate numbers every month without having to do the bookkeeping themselves, and who wants the tax return prepared by the same person who kept the books.
What monthly bookkeeping includes
- Every bank, credit card, and loan account reconciled to the statement each month
- Transactions categorized correctly for Ohio and federal tax purposes
- Profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash summary by the 15th of the following month
- Cuyahoga County sales tax tracked so filings are right the first time
- Payroll liabilities and 1099 contractors tracked all year
- Job costing for contractors and inventory tracking for retailers where it matters
- A short monthly note on anything unusual, and questions answered within one business day
Strongsville’s city income tax
Strongsville’s municipal income tax is administered by RITA, which means a net profit return for the business, withholding for employees who work in the city, and an individual return for residents, all on top of the federal and Ohio filings. Businesses with employees working from home in other suburbs pick up additional municipal obligations that are easy to miss. I keep track of where your people work and file accordingly; the details are in my guide to Ohio municipal income tax, RITA and CCA.
Franchise and multi-location owners
Several of my clients own franchise locations or more than one storefront. Royalty and marketing-fund remittances, intercompany transfers, and location-level profit reporting all need to be set up deliberately in QuickBooks Online or Xero, or the numbers for each location become guesswork. That setup is part of onboarding, not an extra.
How we start
- A 20-minute call about the business, and read-only access to your accounting file and last year’s return.
- A written flat-fee quote within a day, with a separate price if prior months need catching up.
- Onboarding in the first two weeks: bank feeds connected, chart of accounts fixed, prior months reconciled.
- Statements by the 15th of every month after that, plus a short note on anything that needs your attention.
Pricing
Monthly bookkeeping starts at $350 and is quoted as a flat fee before work begins. Individual tax returns start at $800 and business returns at $1,500. Tax planning is a separate engagement. There is no hourly billing.
