Chagrin Falls is a village with a real downtown, and most of the businesses that make it work are small and locally owned. I am Josh Katz, a CPA who grew up in Cleveland and has spent more than fifteen years keeping the books and filing the taxes for small businesses across the east side. My office is in Beachwood, a short drive from the village. If you run a business in or around Chagrin Falls and want an accountant who understands how a small local business actually operates, this page is for you.

Who I work with in Chagrin Falls

The village center is full of independent shops, restaurants, galleries and service businesses, and the surrounding area has plenty of professionals who run a practice or a consulting business from a small office or from home. Each of those needs something different from the books. A shop or restaurant lives on sales reports, inventory and sales tax. A professional practice cares about collections and clean monthly numbers. A consultant or real estate investor mostly needs books that are right and ready when it is time to file. I set up the books around how your business actually works.

What monthly bookkeeping includes

Whether you sell products, serve clients or both, the monthly work looks like this.

Reconciled accounts every month. Bank, credit card and loan statements tied out so the numbers are right.

Financial statements on schedule. A balance sheet and profit and loss statement you can read and use, delivered on time.

Payroll that matches the ledger. Your payroll provider, whether that is Gusto, ADP or another system, synced with your books so wages and payroll taxes are tracked correctly.

A CPA who answers the phone. Questions come up in July, not just in April. You get direct access to me.

Monthly bookkeeping starts at $350. Individual tax returns start at $800 and business returns start at $1,500. Every fee is flat and quoted before the work begins. You can see the full list on my services page.

Chagrin Falls taxes, handled locally

The Village of Chagrin Falls income tax is administered by the Regional Income Tax Agency, known as RITA. Businesses located in the village file and pay through RITA, and employers withhold for employees who work in the village. Where it gets complicated is when you or your staff work in more than one community, because each city and village has its own rules for credits. I explain how that works in my guide to Ohio municipal income tax, RITA and CCA.

If your business has grown quickly, it is also worth checking where you stand on the Ohio Commercial Activity Tax. Many small businesses that once filed no longer need to.

Meet in person, or not

Most clients send documents electronically and meet by video, which keeps things simple. When you would rather sit down in person, my Beachwood office is a short drive from Chagrin Falls. You can read more about my background on the about page.

Let us talk

The first conversation is free. Tell me what your business does and where the books stand today, and I will tell you what it would cost to get them where they should be.

Call (216) 249 6013, email info@joshkatzcpa.com, or send a message through the contact form. My office is at 3401 Enterprise Pkwy, Suite 340-387, Beachwood, OH 44122.
