Pepper Pike is mostly residential, but a surprising number of businesses are run from here, many of them from a home office or a small professional suite. I am Josh Katz, a CPA who grew up in Cleveland and has spent more than fifteen years keeping the books and filing the taxes for small businesses across the east side. My office is in Beachwood, right next door. If you run a business in Pepper Pike and want an accountant who is close by, this page is for you.
Who I work with in Pepper Pike
Pepper Pike business owners tend to fall into a few groups: professionals with a practice in the area, consultants and executives who run their own companies from home, real estate investors, and owners of small firms that serve the eastern suburbs. The needs differ, but the themes are familiar. Keeping personal and business spending separate, paying yourself and your staff correctly, tracking rental properties properly, and having clean numbers ready at tax time. I set up the books around how your business actually works.
What monthly bookkeeping includes
Whether you work from a home office or lease a small suite, the monthly work looks like this.
Reconciled accounts every month. Bank, credit card and loan statements tied out so the numbers are right.
Financial statements on schedule. A balance sheet and profit and loss statement you can read and use, delivered on time.
Payroll that matches the ledger. Your payroll provider, whether that is Gusto, ADP or another system, synced with your books so wages and payroll taxes are tracked correctly.
A CPA who answers the phone. Questions come up in July, not just in April. You get direct access to me.
Monthly bookkeeping starts at $350. Individual tax returns start at $800 and business returns start at $1,500. Every fee is flat and quoted before the work begins. You can see the full list on my services page.
Pepper Pike taxes, handled locally
Pepper Pike’s municipal income tax is administered by the Regional Income Tax Agency, known as RITA. It matters most when your home and your business are in different places. If you live in Pepper Pike but your business or your employer is in another city, or the other way around, you may owe tax to more than one community, and each one has its own rate and its own credit rules. I explain how that works in my guide to Ohio municipal income tax, RITA and CCA.
If your business has grown quickly, it is also worth checking where you stand on the Ohio Commercial Activity Tax. Many small businesses that once filed no longer need to.
Meet in person, or not
Most clients send documents electronically and meet by video, which keeps things simple. Because my office is right next door in Beachwood, sitting down in person is easy whenever you would rather do that. You can read more about my background on the about page.
Let us talk
The first conversation is free. Tell me what your business does and where the books stand today, and I will tell you what it would cost to get them where they should be.
