Who we are

This website is operated by Josh Katz, CPA, an accounting practice providing bookkeeping, tax preparation and related services to businesses and individuals. Our office is at 3401 Enterprise Pkwy, Suite 340-387, Beachwood, OH 44122. You can reach us at info@joshkatzcpa.com or (216) 249 6013.

This policy explains what information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It covers the website only. Information you provide to us as a client during an engagement is governed by our engagement letter and by the professional confidentiality obligations described below.

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you fill out a contact form, request a consultation, or email or call us, we collect the information you choose to provide. That typically includes your name, email address, phone number, business name, and whatever you tell us about your situation. We ask that you do not send Social Security numbers, bank account numbers or other sensitive identifiers through the website contact form. If we need that information, we will give you a secure way to send it.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, ours records basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view, how long you stay, and the site or search that referred you. This comes from cookies and similar technologies used by our analytics tools.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to respond to your inquiry, to provide and administer our services, to send you information you asked for, to improve how the website works, and to meet our legal and professional obligations. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade mailing lists.

Client confidentiality

Information you provide to us in the course of a professional engagement is treated as confidential under the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct and, for tax return information, under Section 7216 of the Internal Revenue Code. We do not disclose client tax return information to third parties without your written consent, except where disclosure is required or permitted by law.

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us operate the practice and this website, and only to the extent they need it to perform their function. These currently include our website host, our email provider, our contact form provider, our analytics provider, and the accounting and tax software platforms we use to deliver services. Each is bound to protect the information it handles.

We may also disclose information where we are required to by law, by court order, or by a regulatory or professional body, or where disclosure is necessary to protect our rights.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses cookies to keep the site working properly and to understand how visitors use it. We use Google Analytics and Google Search Console for traffic measurement. We may also display reviews sourced from our Google Business Profile. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.

How long we keep information

Inquiries that do not become engagements are kept only as long as we need them for follow up. Client records are retained for the period required by professional standards, tax law and our records retention policy, which is generally seven years after the end of an engagement.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect the information we hold, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to the record retention obligations described above. You can unsubscribe from any marketing email using the link in that email. To make a request, contact us at info@joshkatzcpa.com.

Children

This website is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Links to other sites

Our site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to read their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page.
